Adventure enthusiasts rejoice! Our 75 acres, long winding trails, and 800 feet of beachfront combine to make for the ultimate wilderness playground for adults and kids alike – fun for the whole family. Climb and zip-line off of the High Ropes Adventure Course, go sailing or tubing out on the vast waters of Lake Erie, learn outdoor survival with an expert guide, or simply enjoy the wonderful smoky taste of a s’more at a camp fire. And, if that doesn’t satisfy your adventure appetite, there’s also swimming, boating, hiking, trail biking, paintball, rappelling, and more. Visit in the winter and you’ll have opportunities for outdoor adventures, including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. When it comes to adventure, Pioneer is an all-you-can-eat buffet (and speaking of buffets, here’s a link to our culinary page)

*Pioneer is an authorized dealer/distributor of Tippmann paintball products.

Frisbee Golf (FROLF)

FROLF

FROLF – Disc Golf, also known as Frisbee Golf – is a game that is very similar to regular golf. However, instead of using golf balls and clubs, players throw a Frisbee into a basket. Score is kept the same with the lowest score winning.

Pioneer is home to an 18 hole FROLF course that spans Pioneer’s beautiful 75 acres. The holes will take you everywhere from the shore of Lake Erie to the quiet meadow tucked away in our woods.

Guided Hikes

Pioneer has over 50 acres of woods which house multiple hiking trails for you to explore. Guided hikes are offered upon request and availability.

Self-Guided Hikes

Check in at the welcome center to sign up for a self-guided hike. Hiking Guides are available at the Welcome Center. The guide gives detailed descriptions of each trail, with distance, and key features to note while hiking.

Biking

With 50 acres of woods, there’s an adventure to be had around every corner while exploring our trails on mountain bikes. There are well-maintained and ready to use mountain bikes available for trail riding.

Orientiering

Orienteering requires navigational skills using a compass and map to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain. It can be done at many speeds: at a slow or moderate pace, to develop your skills – or – quickly, to race others in order to find all of the designated points first.

Winter

Visit in the winter and you’ll have opportunities for outdoor adventures, including: snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and winter survival training.
